The world is turning upside down for Strange Candy and Stranger Things!
Fans of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things are no strangers to the weird and supernatural. With the first part of the latest season having just premiered at the end of May, we decided to look at the Strangest Candies that turned our world upside down until we can sink into this season's remaining episodes in July.
Over the years brands have introduced quite a few strange and bizarre sweets! Some of which have turned out to be massive hits… and others have divided candy lovers with their ridiculousness. Here is our list of the Top 10 Strangest Candies To Exist. Get ready to binge watch Stranger Things Season 4 on Netflix while munching on these wacky treats.
10. Hubba Bubba Flavoured M&Ms
We had to start our weird candy list with Hubba Bubba Flavoured M&Ms. Bubblegum and chocolate don’t mix… or so we thought?! This year Hubba Bubba and M&Ms collaborated on the world’s first bubblegum-flavoured chocolate from down under - not from the Upside Down - in Australia! It’s definitely a strange mix, and yet the combination of our childhood favourite gum and delicious M&M chocolate somehow works.
These brands complement each other in an unexpected way, providing a balance of fruity bubblegum and chocolatey flavour. However, sometimes we still find ourselves scratching our heads when we taste bubblegum but don't feel its signature chewy texture, but we can get on board. Similar to how Mike eventually warms up to Max joining the group, we’ve warmed up to this strange flavour!
9. Sour Flush Candy Plunger with Sour Powder Dip
Hear us out: we know this toilet-shaped contraption is a weird candy, but it's also delicious. Shaped like a colourful plastic toilet, inside the bowl is a sour powder that you eat with the attached sweet candy plunger lollipop! Simply lick the lolly and get dipping in the toilet for a sweet and sour surprise. We know eating from the toilet is strange but we’ve done Stranger Things!
8. Fun Works Candy Notepad and Pen
Fun Works Candy Notepad and Pen is the perfect example of a strange candy that's also functional! Made from flavoured rice paper and a pen flowing with edible ink, you can scribble messages to friends and eat the evidence before unwanted eyes see it! Your secret messages have never been so safe. Dustin would definitely utilize these in school instead of his walkie-talkie. Unfortunately, they were invented in the 90s, a little too late for their adventures in the fourth season.
7. Garbage Candy
Why would anyone want Garbage Candy? The name says it all! Plastic garbage cans come in blue, green, purple and pink colours and are filled with tart-pressed powder candies. These fruity-flavoured candies come in classic cartoon garbage shapes like pop cans, glass bottles, and even fish bones! Now we would normally never eat from a garbage can, but these strange candies are a staple of our childhood. ...And these didn't come from Hawkins, so rest assured there aren't any Demogorgon babies from Hawkins Lab lurking inside!
6. Warheads Super Sour Spray Candy
Sour candy is a staple that everyone loves, however, a sour spray is just odd. Why would anyone want to spray Warheads Super Sour Spray Candy straight into their mouth?! Warheads hard candies are sour enough, and yet they created a mouth-puckering sour candy spray. While it sounds strange, sour fans love this twist on sour candy, especially from a beloved popular candy brand like Warheads. For a sharp pick-me-up, try the spray and see if you can keep from puckering.
5. The Toe of Satan
The Toe of Satan sounds like it came from the depths of the Upside Down. A ridiculously spicy lollipop made with 9 million Scoville units of chilli extract, The Toe of Satan is quite possibly the hottest candy on the planet! Proceed with extreme caution because it requires so much safe handling, we’re not quite sure who created this beast. All we can say is, similar to Demogorgons, avoid them at all costs if you can’t handle the heat, however, the heat is probably enough to set a Demogorgon ablaze!
But perhaps you're like Millie Bobby Brown who plays Eleven in Stranger Things, and is not only talented at portraying a psychic superhero, but also at devouring super hot foods! Check out just how much heat she can take on her appearance in Hot Ones with a quick guest taste-test from cast mate Noah Schnapp who plays Will!
4. Ooze Tube
Ooze tubes are gooey, juicy, fruity flavoured liquid candy that you squeeze right into your mouth. It’s a very different and strange consistency to the candy we’re used to, and while it might not be appealing to everyone, it sure is delicious. It’s definitely hard to picture this candy as a delicacy compared to the Canadian gold that is maple syrup, but it’s not hard to imagine Eleven smothering this on her Eggos!
3. Power Poppers Sour Foami
We’re getting closer to the top of our list of weird candy and would be lost without mentioning Power Poppers Sour Foami! Resembling a can of shaving cream, this unique, edible spray foam can be squeezed right into your mouth! Your tastebuds will be overwhelmed with the sour flavour of blue raspberry, green apple, or strawberry. This one is definitely weird and the texture is wild for candy, but that’s the reason it’s so fun.
2. Thrills Gum
This is one of our favourites! Who could forget about the infamous Thrills gum? First made in Canada, this purple gum and its distinctively floral rosewater flavour are truly intriguing! Love it or hate it, it "Still Tastes Like Soap"! While a strange invention, this is one of Canada’s favourite retro candies and has been dividing candy lovers ever since 1911. The boys would definitely prank each other with this gum.
1. Wack-O-Wax Wax Lips
Here we are, the number one strangest candy! To be honest we’re not even sure why it’s considered candy. Wack-O-Wax Lips are wax chewing gum that you "Play Now-Chew Later". Originally invented in the 1940s, it has been a staple at parties and holiday gatherings ever since. To this day, Wack-O-Wax lips are a must-have at every candy store.
While most like to play with these red lips just for a good laugh, some still like to chew the cherry flavoured wax gum. We can definitely see Will, Mike, Lucas and Dustin rocking these as part of their cosplay during one of their signature 10 hour campaigns of D+D.
While Stranger Things is breaking records on Netflix, these strange candies are winning over our hearts. We think the Stranger Things cast would approve!

I LOVE OOZE TUBES!!! BURY ME IN THE TUBE WITH THE OOZE. I AGREE JULIETTE <3
the ooze tubes are really good, and so are the candy note pad and pen are also really good. I would not try the ‘’Satans toe’’ candy because i do not trust it.
