The faded, bright neon colours of the 80s had faded into the past. The World Wide Web was looming. Along with the impending hysteria surrounding the Y2K.

Grunge was the latest fashion statement, and we flaunted oversized plaid shirts, baggy blue jeans and thick combat boots. The glamour had left us, but the incredible candy made it all bearable.
We were on the verge of a brave new millennium with delicious candy in hand.

We're sure that hung in closets across North America, there remain bright green wrappers left in the pockets of those grunge-looking, forgotten, oversized plaid shirts!

The Wonka effect certainly took hold of our 90s candy cravings! These candies flew off the shelves. None of us could wait to experience our beloved Sweetarts Candy in this giant format. These meant more candy, more flavour and an even bigger sugar rush!
These larger-than-life disc-shaped candies really got us going in the 90s! In fact, we're sure they were the candy of choice during those night-long raves.

This sour candy went well with our bad attitudes and teenage angst. The Toxic Waste Candy has been keeping us on our toes since its very sour inception in the mid-90s.
 Coming with a warning label of it being "Hazardously Sour" just made it all that more appealing! It was distributed in drum-like containers that contained the hard candy. For some, it became instant regret! 
Yes, the sting of this sour candy certainly packs an intense punch. It will make you shed a tear or two, have your hair stand on end, and you best believe you will pucker!
As you prepare to open up one of these cringe-inducing sour candies don't let its initial sweetness fool you. You've got about 10 seconds before its mean, and sour claws come out to shred your mouth and propel your tastebuds into a wasteland of that sour regret we spoke about earlier. That's only if you're a newbie, though; for the rest of us, we eat this sour candy for breakfast!
Besides the hard candy original Toxic Waste, this seriously sour candy line has expanded to include the Toxic Waste Sour Smog Balls, Toxic Waste Gummy Worms and Gummy Bears. The world was rapidly changing, as the emergence of technology was about to create a much more diverse world. Gone were the simple and idyllic days of the 1960s; the 90s were evolving our social norms and taking us into the digital age. On the verge of a whole new millennium, and the only refuge was our candy!
