Welcome, one and all, to the most freight-tastic event of the year!
Here at Candy Funhouse, we certainly love indulging in delicious candies, but we also get a kick out of keeping up with the latest pop culture has to offer! With that being said, we know how much people love dressing up as iconic film characters for Halloween, so we decided to compile a list of popular horror flicks and their corresponding candies!
If you’re struggling to complete your Halloween costume or simply want some insidious inspiration, then keep reading!
1. Nightmare Before Christmas

How could we create a Halloween Candy Pairings list without including this Tim Burton classic! For this 1993 stop-motion animated film, we paired it with its very own candy figurines! The Nightmare Before Christmas Pop Ups Lollipops is a collaboration between Pop Ups and Chupa Chups to give candy lovers and fans of the film a delicious treat to enjoy. You can place your Chupa Chups lollipop inside these figures and use them as you open and close the figurine to indulge in the sweet candy. Our pairing is pretty self-explanatory with the candy being directly made from the animated film. This treat is a great way to add characters to your costume, so if you plan to go as Jack Skellington, you can carry Sally Shock as your date all night long.
2. Scream

What’s your favourite scary movie? Fortunately, we ask that sincerely and not with the same intentions as Ghostface. This 1996 classic slasher movie has had many adaptations that have followed it, but I think we can all agree you can’t compete with the original. When it was time to choose a candy to pair with this film, we decided to go with Warheads Gummy Body Parts because the slasher theme is pretty fitting with gummy body parts. We also think the face the Warheads character is making is pretty similar to Ghostfaces’ mask, and Scream will pretty much have your face looking like that for all 1 hour and 51 minutes of the film.
3. Saw

Our third candy pairing is between Saw (2004) and Vidal Missing Body Parts. Since the premise of this horror film is pretty gruesome and gory, it only made sense to pair it with a bag full of dismembered gummy body parts. From bones and brains to eyes, you can enjoy an assortment of fruity flesh candy. If you’re throwing a Halloween party, it would be a pretty good idea to have these gummies floating around in a punch bowl so it looks like a bunch of severed body parts floating around in blood… quite gruesome but very fitting.
4. Beetlejuice

We only have to say his name once for you to know who we’re talking about. Beetlejuice (1988) is a cult classic horror comedy leaving you in stitches almost immediately! So when we had to decide which candy to pair with this iconic movie, we had to go with Dots Ghosts. If you’ve seen the movie, you’d know that the main characters are a couple of ghosts that are looking to reclaim their home. So, if you’re looking for some spooky snacks to indulge in this Halloween season, you can enjoy your very own Adam & Barbara Maitland in Dots form!
5. Get Out

The 2017 Jordan Peele thriller Get Out is a modern classic horror film that has definitely left its mark on pop culture since its release. If there's one thing you can expect from this film, it’s that you can never expect what happens next. That statement is especially true in the final scene of the film when the main character is having Froot Loops cereal in a bowl separate from the milk and eating them individually. That's why we paired this film with Froot Loops Gummies. This Halloween edition gummy is the perfect accessory for a Get Out-inspired costume, or as a delicious treat to hand out to trick-or-treaters. Either way, this Froot Loops candy will be significantly less eerie when you indulge in it – so enjoy!
6. Addams Family

Sink your fangs into the Halloween Wack-O-Wax Multicoloured Fangs while you watch the Addams Family (1991). The iconic family has long been synonymous with the season of Halloween with their eerie essence, and loveable quirkiness! A common misconception of the quirk-centric family is that they are vampires, but they are actually just humans with a darker presence. Although this may be a common error, we’ve used it to our advantage when it came to pairing this movie with the gummy fangs! So whether or not you’re a fan of the Addams Family, you can be sure the Wack-O-Wax Fangs will be the ultimate costume find this Halloween season!
7. Hocus Pocus

By now I think we all know who the Sanderson sisters are (especially since there was a reboot last year for the younger gen!) But if you’re still unfamiliar with these witchy sisters, let us give you a quick recap on what's what. Hocus Pocus (1993) is set in 1693 Salem, Massachusetts where three witches, the Sanderson sisters, are in search of their next victim to preserve their youth. This eventually leads to their demise once the townsfolk decide to capture them for eternity. So it was a no-brainer to pair this classic Halloween film with Kit Kat Witches Brew with Marshmellow Creme. This highly popular chocolate bar not only represents the Sanderson Sisters but also represents the popularity of the film. So, if you’re a Kit Kat fiend, we suggest grabbing a bar of your own before they’re all gone until the next Spooky Season!
8. Halloweentown

Since its release, this Disney Channel original movie quickly became a Halloween staple among little candy goblins everywhere! Halloweentown (1998) may be a kids' movie, but it's surprisingly spooky when you rewatch it as an adult; that scene in the theatre never fails to freak me out. Regardless, this movie, at its core, is lighthearted and centers around the relationship between grandparents, mothers & their kids. This is why we chose to pair this comfort movie with Werther’s Original Soft Pumpkin Spice Caramels, and nothing says comforting grandmother like a piece of Werther’s caramel candy. We’re fairly certain that Aggie Cromwell would be walking around Halloweentown with a purse full of these pumpkin spice caramels handing them to every witch, warlock, and werewolf!
9. Coraline

Coraline (2009) is a stop-motion animation that took the horror genre by storm when it released this eerie children’s film. I think we can all recall how spooked we were when we got introduced to the button-eyed parents – especially when things started to take a dark turn. What may have started as a sweet, delightful family quickly turned into the exact opposite. That’s why we chose to pair this classic animation with Halloween Sour Patch Kids Zombies. Although these gummy treats start sour and then turn sweet, they still have the element of surprise within each bite. You don’t have to be a kid to indulge in these gummy treats, kids and adults alike can enjoy the sweet & sour sensations – just like the film!
10. Ghostbusters

Who are you gonna call?? This mega-popular 1984 film has surely left its mark on the film industry and Halloween celebrators all over the world! All you need to see is a pair of grey jumpsuits with an outrageous gun, and you’ll instantly recognize the costume. We know how stressful it can be to find the right costume, so if you’re planning to dress up as the Ghostbusters, then you’re going to need the Ghostbusters Light & Sound Candy Wand to complete the entire look! Ride around town on the ECTO-1 as the Ghostbusters theme plays through the toy speakers, all while enjoying a few bites of the candy inside the stick.
11. Carrie

Pairing the classic film Carrie (1976) with the Ooze Tube Candy Gel in Cherry creates an epic Halloween costume duo that's all about fun and scares! In the film, Carrie's iconic prom scene is an unforgettable moment of horror and chaos, and her blood-soaked appearance is instantly recognizable. By adding the Cherry Ooze Tube Candy Gel into your costume, you can have a fun and interactive element to your portrayal of Carrie. Apply it on your costume or even your face for a realistic, gruesome effect that will shock and delight fellow Halloween goers. Spray it on liberally, and watch as your friends gasp and giggle at your spooky transformation. It's a blend of classic horror and playful sweetness that guarantees a Halloween to remember!
12. It

Pairing the 2017 spine-tingling film IT with the Boston America IT Pennywise Tin is a genius move for an unforgettable Halloween combo! IT delivers terrifying thrills, and with Pennywise the Dancing Clown in your corner, you'll have everyone trembling with excitement. The tin is plastered with Pennywise's menacing grin, and it's perfect for storing your favourite Halloween candies. Imagine reaching for a sweet treat while watching the film's hair-raising scenes – it adds an extra layer of suspense to your Halloween night. Plus, it's a fantastic conversation starter at any Halloween gathering, giving everyone the creeps and a reason to share a nervous laugh. Get ready for a Halloween experience that floats too – with candy and chills!
