Experience some out-of-this-world deliciousness with the legendary Moon Pie! Many moons ago, in 1917, the famous Moon Pie was created.
Inspired by the beautiful Tennese full moon, travelling salesman Earl Mitchel was having a conversation with some hungry coalminers. They inquired about a snack they could enjoy while working that was large and filling. At that magical moment, Earl looked upon that fateful full moon and was struck with the idea of the Moon Pie. He claimed he was going to create a snack "as big as the moon"!
As big as the moon, he sure did! He approached the Chatanooga Bakery about his snack idea, and they obliged! To this day, the famous American snack is still churned out at the tune of a million Moon Pies a day!
Once in a blue moon, a snack comes around that's as astronomically delicious as the Moon Pie!
