Historians believe that the very first people to enjoy this goodness were the ancient Egyptians. Who made their very own version using dried honey and forming it into a Taffy-like texture. Mixing in figs, dates, nuts and spices. I bet this taffy was incredible, although probably tasted nothing like our favourite Laffy Taffy!
Besides the ancient rendition, and closer to this timeline, its believed that Taffy first appeared in the 1880s on the boardwalk in Atlantic City. Which just happens to be the birthplace of the one and only Salt Water Taffy! But don't worry. You don't have to be at the Jersey Shore to experience this sweet stuff!
