There's always something to do downtown Preston, at least that's the idea Preston Towne Centre is trying to promote when it launches its first-annual Imprestonart festival. Over 25 local artists will be featured down King Street this coming Saturday (August 9th) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The art festival is looking to benefit from the Cambridge Ribfest which will be taking place August 8-10.
"We're hoping that people who attend the Ribfest will see our booth and make the trip up the street to check out the artists," said Shirley Bowman. Bowman is chair of the Preston Business Improvement Association.
Some artists will have their pieces for sale, while others will offer contact information for future considerations that people may inquire about. Candy Funhouse will have two artists displaying their works with Antoinette Marhonic and Lee Taggart. Candy funhouse will also have live entertainment featuring Christen Latham from 1-4 p.m.
The Imprestonart festival will hopefully become an annual event, coinciding with the Rotary Cambridge Ribfest. Both events are free to attend with cash only transactions. Preston Towne Centre as well as City Hall are encouraging everyone to use public transportation, or walk down to the various events. Shuttle services will be available to combat traffic congestion.
